Downtown Kannapolis has been completely renovated! The new downtown streetscape opened in October 2019 and Atrium Health Ballpark opened in Spring 2020 and is treated as a public park. There are 12 gyms and 40+ Pokestops in the downtown, ballpark and research campus areas. Loop the Loop has several trails to choose from.
113 West Ave, Kannapolis Downtown Revitalization Info
We host a Raid Hour here each Wednesday (see Discord or Facebook for details).
There are 2 small nests located in Dale Earnhardt Plaza and Veterans Park and many spawn points. Most Pokestops are in clusters so you can reach 3-4 at the same time. You'll likely run into other players here! Join in on raid coordination on Discord.
Downtown Kannapolis was originally established as a business district anchored by Cannon Mills in 1907. Decades of growth came to an end in 2003 when Cannon Mills closed all operations, putting over 4,000 people out of work. The North Carolina Research Campus , newly renovated downtown streetscape and Atrium Health Ballpark have brought life and energy back into downtown!
There is SO much to enjoy in downtown! Atrium Health Ballpark, home to the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers, is open to the public and offers a splash pad, playground, food/beverage stalls and a wide walking trail. Open daily unless there is a baseball game.
The Kannapolis downtown streetscape is made for pedestrian access and features restaurants, a brewery, swings, stages, water features and more! Make sure to visit the historic Gem Theatre, Veterans Park and Dale Earnhardt Plaza. Events are held here regularly. Its a great place to play - day or night.
The North Carolina Research Campus is a beautiful space to walk or run. Future plans are to build an Olympic training and research facility! Enjoy a walk down the entirety of West Avenue and the abundance of pokestops, gyms and Pokemon along the way!
